The Extra-ordinary woman - Benazir Bhutto - Sad day for Pakistan and the world

Few more days, it will be 2008!! It is so sad that 2007 has a sad ending.....

This morning got the news that Pakistan's politician got assassinated by suicide bomb attack in Islamabad. She was shot in the neck before her assailant blew himself up. She died later in the hospital. At least a dozen more people were also killed in the rally.

Just awhile ago, Al-Qaeda has claimed that they did the crime.



She escaped an assassination just in Oct, but she was undeterred and proceed to meet her supporters for the up and coming election in Jan 08. So sad, this time, she was unlucky.

Her father, Mr Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was Pakistan Prime Miniter from 1970 to 1977. He was striped of powers by military coup led by Gen Zia ul-Haq in 1997 and was hanged 2 years later. Her 2 brothers turned to terrorism and both were killed. She was released to London after few years imprisonment, where she re-build her father's party, Pakistan People's Party. She later became Prime Minister twice, 1988 to 1990 and 1993 to 1996.

What has happened to the world? There are so many hatred now? Religion against religion, race against race? Politicians use dirty tricks to get their vote so they can get the power. To me, i see it as some people were doing all these crimes to benefit themselves and using religion and race as cover up. It is the cheapest and effective weapon to achieve what they want.

With the current only super power in the world, namely USA, behaves selfishly, unfair handling international matters, creating more and more hatred. Plus this same super power refuses to work with the rest of the countries to solve the global warming problem, the world is getting worse!!!

I hope her dead will not create more death in Pakistan. I respect her for her courage and determination in wanting to make Pakistan a better place.

My Christmas 2007

Haiz!!!! Christmas day is my house cleaning day....... whole day cleaning here and there...... hmmmm.... what a Christmas !!!

I always enjoy the cool weather from Nov to Feb, it is always very cooling and windy...., this period is also a raining season in Singapore. I really hope to have this type of weather through out the year here, but not too much rain lah, just cool wind will do. Hahaha... dreaming only ...... Not really though, our global weather has changed drastically in the past years..... the weather pattern has changed. This year the "cool wind" came in late as compare to last year, it only came in late Nov, last year was late Oct. But this year, there are lots of rain even during our hot and dry season, that is between March to Sept.

Hahaha, who knows, one day Singapore may have temperature at 20degreeC through out the year? hahaha... dreaming again ... in actual fact, the earth is getting warmer, not cooler....

One day Singapore will become smaller due to global warming effect, sea level rise due to north and south poles melting ice. But our smart govt has already started to build dams blocking the sea water from our rivers, at the same time use them as reserviours. Smart leh!! One stone kills 2 birds. In fact, our HDB has long been prepared for this global warming effect, most of our HDB apartment blocks, 1st level is empty, residents stay from 2nd level onwards. 80% of Singaporeans stay in HDB, so we are safe!!!! :-)

No matter how, when the warming effect get worse, some parts of Singapore will be gone under water.... Well, not really need to worry. We are expert in reclaiming the sea, water level rise, we will claim them back.... So, an interesting scenario then, may be 50yrs or 100yrs from now, Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries will shrink but Singapore not only remain same size, may be even bigger.....hahaha.... you can imagine that ?? then of course, a lot of quarrel with Malaysia and Indonesia over reclaimation lor....

Really, not sure how long the earth can last ?? It is a living thing. It is starting to get sick, but the most powerful country in the current world are not willing to help to make the earth back to normal. Well, what can the rest say when there is only one big super power?? LL lor!

So, how many more Christmas can the earth have? I am very sure, I still can enjoy many Christmas with the earth still in "proper" health. But, for sure i am not going to do house cleaning anymore on Christmas day liao.... hahahaha.....

It is fast......, few more days 2007 will be gone..... not sure if the clock and earth team up to tick and rotate faster. Every sunday morning when i meet my good friends for regular jog and breakfast, we all knew that another week had just gone.

A close friend lately sent me an interesting self-made video on self-motivation topic, about life, contention, be positive, live life to fullest and see the glass as half fill, instead of half empty. Herewith, i would like to say i definitely will. Thanks for your message and appreciate your video a lot. Thanks again. :-)

2007 is not really a good year for me, too many things happened. I believe 2008 will be a better year. I ,too, wish you, who are now reading my blog, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2008!!

捐血出丑记

捐血对很多新加坡人来讲不是什么了不起的事情。尤其是大多数的新加坡男生都经历过国民服役，在服役期间最少也捐过一次。输血的速度快或慢取决于个人的血脉大小。有些人十五到二十分钟血浆包就满了，有些人则有可能需要半个钟头或更久，有些甚至捐到一半血就停止往外流。更有些连护士也找不到血脉，然后再拍拍手臂让那血脉浮出来。呵呵！听来有点不可思议？不过却是千真万确。通常，一旦捐完，护士就会用棉花用力的压住那针孔刺破的血脉几分钟，防止血再往外流。

当年在部队时，我是个regular捐血者。那时，我差不多每三个月都会去捐血。捐血有个规定，那就是最少隔三个月才能再捐血，所以每年不会超过四次。那时，虽然我时常捐血，但我从不看护士用针刺我的血脉。当她们要刺时，通常我会把头转到另一边。呵呵！你有可能觉得很奇怪为什么我不看。呵呵！我不怕痛，但就是怕看到针刺入血脉那一刹那和鲜血开始流出来的那一幕。真的！而且那些针是蛮大的喔！有些护士当知道我的畏惧，就故意作弄我，一直叫我看针往那里插。当然，我死都不看啦！。。。呵呵！

记得有一次，流动捐血车来到部队军营。当然，我也捐血去啦！那时部队同事也蛮踊跃的去捐血。和往常一样，我还是不看护士用针刺我的血脉。我的几位同事也在我的隔壁床，我一边输血一边聊天。一下子，我的血浆包满了。护士就用棉花压住我的手臂的血脉，因为人手不够，她按了差不多半分钟，就叫我自己按住。按惯例，我应该是按着手臂差不多五分钟到十分钟，直到血脉不再流血。同时也去休息区喝点饮料。

呵呵！我呢？没去休息，反而是跑去作弄还在输血的同事。我一边按着手臂，走来走去，一边和同事有说有笑。过了几分钟，忽然间我感觉到手臂湿湿的。往手臂一看“我的天啊！有血啊！“口里就喊了出来。手臂都是血，我走过的地方地板也沾了血迹。这时每个人都被我突如其来的反应，好奇地向我看了过来。护士也向我走了过来。还记得好像被护士训了几句，之后眼前一暗，什么就不记得了。

当我张开眼睛时，就看到几个人围着我。也听到有人说“醒啦！醒啦！“。那个被我作弄的同事也在旁边，问我“你OK吗？“。我就问“发生什么事？“。他回答“你刚才晕倒啊！“。我无力的反应“是吗？“。还没讲完，护士就走过来把我训了一顿。说我应该是去休息而不该去作弄别人，没按好才导致血流不止。她很生气，还警告要禁止我以后去捐血。我也默默地点头，也向她道歉。之后她就吩咐我再多躺几分钟。当时，我是躺着在输血床上，双脚也被抬高，让血倒流。过后，其他在那的同事也作弄我。当然，护士小姐只是吓我而已，往后我还是有去捐血。

老实讲，虽然护士小姐说我晕倒是流血过多造成的，但到了现在我还是不知道到底是因为流血过多还是看到了血才晕的。呵呵！当时手臂和地板的确有很多血。不过，虽然我是个粗男人但就是怕血咯！唉！真失败！

离开了部队之后，也因工作繁忙，有很多年没去捐了。或许，也该去捐了。
