The power of nature - lightning strike a tree along Ang Mo Kio Ave 1

Wow! 2 days ago ( 17th Oct 07 ) afternoon i was at home and it was raining cats and dogs..., then around 4pm+, a loud explosion deafened the whole housing area. It sounded really near, but i never care.

In the evening, i went to visit my parents, who stayed about 3km away, for dinner. To my surprise, when my car approaching AMK Ave 1 and Ave 6 traffic junction, i saw a tree right next to the main road , part of its skin was ripped off and the inner skin looks very "fresh". When i told my parents about it, my dad told me that when the lightning strike, it was deafening and the TV reception was interrupted for a few seconds.

As the tree was right beside the main road, it was fortunate that nobody was hurt. Guess during that time, nobody was standing nearby waiting for taxi or cars stopping waiting for traffic to go green.... If not, looking the damage done to the tree, i don't think anyone can survive such a strike....

Today, after my work, after a heavy downpour and was still drizzling, i took my camera and went there to take some pictures. A strange thing appeared in front of me, as it was still drizzling, there were foam flowing down from the plants that were resided on top of the tree. It created a small foam pool right beside the tree.

Frankly speaking, i don't know how to explain, but it is strange to me.....

My fish that swims up and down..

Taiwan female pop group S.H.E's Ella has a pet dog, name QiangQiang ( 蔷蔷 ), me too! I also have a funny pet, a fish in fact.... hehehe...called Helicopter ( 直升机 ）. Why Helicopter? Hahaha... because it does not swim like normal fishes do, but up and down instead....

Unfortunately, it passed away few weeks ago. :-(

Anyway, i believe it has a good time in my aquarium as it survived swimming this way for more than 6 months. Frankly speaking, I don't know how it happened and what caused it to become that way. Definitely, its fin could be injured or damaged. I don't recall i bought a fish that swim this way, until one fine day this joker swim this way.

Initially i thought it tried to gain attention. Hehehe...funny hor?

一个女人和一个男人恋爱了。

女友有一次看到人家手上戴的白金戒指很漂亮，就羡慕的说：我也要有。男人看在眼里，可是他实在太穷，买不起好看的白金戒指。不久，在女人过生日时，男人送给女人一个用那种透水油纸包着的纸戒指。很别致，重重的，正在恋爱中的女人戴在手上，左看右看，就觉得自己真的好幸福...

女人后来嫁人了，新郎当然不是他。男人除了上那种没什么钱的班，吃饭之外，还写些她看也不想看的稿子。她不想嫁给他，虽然她很爱他。她嫁给了一个有钱的男人。 是的，女人结婚的时候，上从耳朵、脖子，中至双臂，以至于脚踝，全身白金、黄金，金光闪闪。她把男人送给她 的纸戒指塞到抽屉的角落。可是不久之后，她那多金的老公因为家族公司出事，陷入困境，老公也因此涉及不法行为，锒铛入狱。女人悲从中来，忽然就忆起了送她纸戒指的男人。

一天，女人在街上不期而遇男人。男人很大方，邀女人到他家坐坐。男人也结婚了，住在租来的房子。女人看到男人家里的摆设，仍然是很清苦的样子。男人的妻子替女人倒茶，女人看到男人的妻子手上也戴着和被自己扔在抽屉角落几乎一摸一样的纸戒指。男人的妻子离开客厅的时候，她可以感觉男人过得很幸福，而他的妻子也是。不像自己的一无所有，连丈夫都身陷囫囵。

后来女人在一本杂志裳看到一篇文章，题目是“纸戒指”，作者不择不扣就是他。女人看完文章后，便一切都明白了。她迅速打开抽屉，模出了被她丢在角落里沾满了灰尘的纸戒指。她小心地将油纸剥开，剥着剥着，眼前赫然就是一只纯纯正正地白金戒指。文章里说，为了买这只戒指，在那个全民皆穷的年代，只好瞒着女人去卖血，因为女人的生日就迫在眉睫，去赚、去借都来不及了。女人哭了，眼泪滴在戒指上。女人随后又将纸戒指小心翼翼的还原回去。

从此，女人不论上班下班都只戴着纸戒指，同事们都赞赏她的戒指精致, 又好看，有创意，问她是谁送的，女人不禁黯然，说：很多东西，要等到失去了，才知道它的珍贵。

怪遇 4 - 一个朋友的亲生经历

信则有，不信则无

一个朋友的真实故事。。。。

不久前，和一位朋友聊了起来，他就跟我讲了最近他碰见的一件怪事。

他是个天主教徒，也不理什么鬼怪之事。几个月前的一天，当他和妻子在外驾车时，他的脑子突然想起了一个患重病的好友。也有一种很玄的感觉。当时即刻就跟同车的妻子提起，那知妻子回应说她也有同样的感觉。两人心有灵犀，好像有感应到一些东西似的。夫妻俩感到有点不可思议，两人同时都想到同样的事情。

过了不久（同一天），朋友的手机响了。正是那位患病好友老婆打来的。通知他，她的丈夫刚病逝了。需要他即刻过去他家帮些忙。这位朋友二话不说就答应了。夫妻俩顿时也愣住了，大眼看小眼，无言以对。

到了好友的家，好友的妻子和办丧事的人员就跟他讲解发生了什么事。事情是他的好友病逝后，拳头握紧着，眼睛无法完全盖住。根据办丧事的人员的经验，这是因为死者放不下心。需要死者最疼的家人或最好的朋友来相劝，好让他放心的走。

这是朋友生平第一次遇到这种怪事。虽然怕，不过为了好友，他也硬着头皮的做了。他跟着办丧事的人员的指示在好友旁边叫他不用当心妻小，他会尽量帮他们的所需。讲了几分钟，好友的眼睛盖了，拳头也松直了。

办丧事的人员跟朋友讲，这种情况很普遍。只要尸体没放进验尸房冷冻，在死后几个钟头内还是有机会跟他讲话，以让他放心的走。一旦进去冷冻房，假如死者眼不盖或拳头握紧就没办法了。

我的那个朋友说如果不是亲身体验，他绝对不会相信可能有这种事。

My plants

Yesterday after work, went to Thomson Road Flora bought a pot of chili padi plant. Hee..hee... chili price has gone up lately ( in fact, almost everything go up ), so now need to do own farming ..., too bad not enough space to breed cow, sheep or piggy.... hmmm.... sorry, i am talking about in HDB housing! This is a sad fact about Singapore, it is too small! For those who can't visualise how small Singapore is, hmmm.... OK! New Zealand North Island Lake Taupo ( Web Site, Web Cam ) is about the same size as Singapore.

Note : Lake Taupo size : 616sq-km, Singapore size : 699sq-km.

Anyway, this is what i have gotten for $8.00.... already have chili in the plant liao..., so lets see how many can i get from this $8.00....



There is also Broyphyllum given by my niece about 3 months ago and Aroid ( i think so, a friend said looks like ), which i plugged from wild 1 month ago.


Bryophyllum is an interesting plant, according to this web site Bryophyllum.com, in Greek, Bryo means Sprout and Phyllon means leafs. You may go this site find out more and see the difference spices with pictures.

Ha... i also have Succulent ( hehe... took from NZ in Dec 2005 )... surprisingly it is still alive!

But i suspect its growing pattern has changed due to the local weather and may be soil are different from its home land.

Singapore 2008 Public Holidays

Just saw this info in MOM ( Ministry Of Manpower ) web site. If you are planning for next year vacations now, this info may be useful.....

Not bad, as there are a few long weekend holidays, except National Day, which falls on Sat :-(

Lunar Chinese New Year is the best as 1st and 2nd day fall on Thur and Fri.... wow! imagine eve is half day, then another 4 days hmmmm..... good leh?

三个太空人的故事。。。

一次，太空梭上太空载了一名美国，一名苏联和一名新加坡科学家。由于这一次逗留在太空比较长，大概2至3年，所以当局就史无前列的应许科学家带一样他们喜欢的东西随他们到太空度过这漫长的差事。美国佬带了老婆，苏联佬带了几只小动物，新加坡佬呢？单身，也是重烟客，就带了一箱香烟。

三年很快的就过去了，各地媒体，大众和当局都在基地等待他们光荣归来。。。

终于，太空梭安全降落了。。。

第一位出来的是美国科学家。他和妻子抱着在太空诞生的小孩一起慢慢的走下飞机。记者争着拍照和访问。。。科学家就讲了一句“我已证明在太空可以传宗接代了！“每个在场都欢声四起，掌声如雷。。。

美国科学家走后，苏联科学家跟着也从机上走了下来。他手里拿着一些篮子，里面有几只小动物。他瞄了美国科学家一眼，然后很昂然的跟媒体说“美国人的成就？没什么了不起！我也证明了在太空做手术是行得通的，我们苏联人已做到了！Yeah!“。热烈的掌声和欢呼声又再响起。

苏联科学家走后，轮到新加坡科学家。他看了那两位科学家的背影摇了个头，然后无精打采，慢慢地走了下来。面容憔悴，满脸胡须。这时，那些脸带笑容和欢呼的媒体和大众一瞬间都静了下来。看着他那憔悴的脸都同时在想“他怎啦？莫非，他病了？“

他眼眶红红，泪水汪汪，望着大家无言以对。这时一位记者就问“先生，您怎么啦？是不是在太空抽太多烟，导致身体不舒服？您的发现呢？“

他还是无言以对。。。这时大家急了。不时都听到“先生。。。，先生。。。“。 终于他打破沉默说“我。。。。我很辛苦。。。。“吞吞吐吐的回答。。。

“先生，怎啦？还好吧？“有人问

他接着讲“这三年我很辛苦。。。。，我带了一箱的烟。。。。“

“这，怎啦？。。。快讲嘛！“另一个人也急坏了。也有人落井下石道“哎呀！那一大箱的烟。。。抽了三年喔！不死才怪！“

他终于忍不住了“我。。。我。。。他奶奶的！却忘了带打火机啊！“

这时，大家不约而同，异口同声地自然反应“ Nabey!! 。。。“
